Lean Principles in the Service Industry

In boom times, efficiency is an important but often ignored concept. In crunch times, efficiency is everything. Perhaps this is why more and more companies are embracing the practices of Lean, also known as Lean Manufacturing or Lean Production. Lean can generally be defined as the practice of eliminating any expenditure of resources that does not directly promote the creation of value.
