Core Bank - Skandinavisk Data Centre (SDC)

Published 15 October 2010 | By FIS

How FIS helped SDC turn spending on maintenance into an investment for the future

SDC was established in 1963 as a non-profit data processing centre for Danish savings banks and is now the largest joint-use data centre in the Danish financial sector. SDC handles all IT-related tasks for associated banks to ensure lower costs for individual banks through large-scale operations and joint solutions.

Business objectives: SDC wanted to cut maintenance costs and give its member banks better service.

FIS solution: FIS' Corebank application matched SDC's requirements perfectly. Corebank is parameter-driven, uses real-time processing and is customer-centric rather than focused on accounts.

Benefits achieved:

  • SDC has been able to expand its bank member network to other countries
  • IT maintenance costs went from 70% to just 30%
  • The number of SDC staff required used to maintain systems was cut in half
  • 70% of the IT budget is now devoted to development

Børge Bisgaard, sales director, SDC, said: "Implementing Corebank for SDC has reduced our costs, freed up our IT people, offered our member banks more flexible technology and gained us new business. So we’re definitely happy."
