Contactless - Bank Zachodni

Published 15 October 2010 | By FIS

An award-winning combination: How FIS contactless card processing helped Bank Zachodni turn Europe’s largest open-air festival into an event to remember.

Bank Zachodni WBK SA is Poland's third largest commercial bank with 600 branches nationwide and 9,500 staff.

Business objectives: To promote the use of contactless cards by launching a card that removed cash from Europe's largest open-air festival, increasing the penetration of card readers with retailers.

FIS solution: To help Bank Zachodni to use Cortex more effectively by:

  • Adapting the software to issue, manage and reconcile offline contactless cards
  • Working as a team to provide support and advice

Benefits achieved:

  • Open'er was voted Europe’s best open-air festival
  • Contactless prepaid card proven as an effective cash-less method of payment

Pawel Wlodarczak, director of Electronic Banking Bank Zachodni, said: "Big companies are often slowed down by too much bureaucracy, but FIS is very quick – which is excellent for launching products like the ALTER kART card."
