Vontobel launches new hedge fund investment option

BBR Staff Writer Published 04 November 2005

In response to the growing demand for a hedge fund investment option for private individuals, private bank Vontobel is launching a listed certificate with a dynamic hedge fund strategy.

The product is invested in eight sub-indices of the HFRX Index and the weighting of each is adjusted in line with current market conditions. Vontobel's aim in launching what it terms 'the Dynamic Voncert HFRX Hedge Fund Style Rotation' is to achieve an optimized return with low risk. The bank says the correlation between the global capital markets is becoming more and more pronounced, which makes it increasingly difficult for investors to diversify their portfolios. Vontobel suggests that hedge funds, which aim to provide absolute performance irrespective of trends in the underlying securities, offer an interesting alternative. Vontobel is offering private individuals the opportunity to access this investment category by investing in the HFRX Hedge Fund Style Rotation. By making a single investment in a transparent and - thanks to the secondary market - liquid security, the bank says that the investor can participate in a risk/return-optimized hedge fund investment strategy.
