Piper Jaffray Appoints David Wirdnam, Matt Traina As Managing Directors

The appointment of David Wirdnam and Matt Traina will complement its debt capital markets and financial restructuring teams.

David Wirdnam joins debt capital markets and financial restructuring groups and Matt Traina joins the financial sponsors group, and will lead the firm’s coverage of west coast financial sponsors.

Mr. David brings more than 15 years of experience in originating, structuring and marketing non-investment grade loans and high yield bonds of all sizes in a wide range of sectors. He joins PJC after serving as a managing director in the leveraged finance group at Citigroup in the US and Europe.

Commenting on Mr. David’s appointment, Murray Huneke, Co-head of investment banking, said: “Helping our clients manage their balance sheet issues is one of our top strategic priorities, and David’s deep experience in the leveraged debt markets adds a critical dimension to our product capabilities.”

Mr. Traina brings more than 14 years of investment banking experience with a majority of the time spent working with financial sponsors in both an advisory and capital raising capacity. He was most recently a senior member of the financial sponsors group at Banc of America Securities.
