Citigroup's South Korean operation launches new cobranded credit card

BBR Staff Writer Published 11 May 2006

Citibank Korea has launched the E-Mart Citibank card in association with retailer E-Mart.

To celebrate the launch of the card, Citigroup's Korean arm says that new holders will have a chance to participate in the Lucky Magic Card promotion. Held over a three-week period, the promotion will run at seven E-Mart branches initially, and will then be introduced to all 79 E-Mart branches nationwide. In the promotion, all new subscribers will be given a 'magic card', which, when wiped with a special liquid, will reveal a series of numbers. If the numbers match the lucky draw numbers they will win a range of prizes including refrigerators, washing machines, inline-skating sets and Shinsegae Department Store gift certificates. The E-Mart Citibank card offers points for 0.5% of purchases made at the Shinsegae Department Store as well as three-month interest free installment benefits, revolving service, a 3-5% discount and free parking coupons. Manoj Varma, director of card business at Citibank Korea, said: The E-Mart Citibank card is designed to offer the most practical benefits for our cardholders and to promote wise consumption practices. We will continue to introduce more innovative services in the future to satisfy our customers.
