Citigroup expands facilities in Northern Ireland
Citigroup Corporate and Investment Banking has officially opened its expanded technology center in Belfast, Northern Ireland, creating 185 jobs which, added to its original plans announced in 2004, will see the creation of 560 jobs in Belfast by 2009.
The company's expanded capabilities will be housed in the White Star building in the Northern Ireland Science Park. This new building will contain Citigroup's expanded Technology Center of Excellence, providing premium space for planned growth over the next three years. In November 2004, Citigroup announced that, with the support of Invest Northern Ireland, it would open a technology center in Belfast, with plans to create 375 jobs by the end of 2009. With a team of 270 working in the center currently and Citigroup committing to adding a further 185 jobs, the total number of jobs created by 2009 will be 560. The team in Belfast works with London-based colleagues to provide support for Citigroup Corporate and Investment Banking across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and is participating in project-based work involving the development of applications for the business.
