Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Research Appoints MD

Mr. Bird is likely to provide comprehensive coverage of the broad business services investment universe to clients

Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Research has appointed William Bird as managing director and senior analyst covering the advertising, marketing and information services sectors.

He will be based in New York and report to Michael Rietbrock, deputy director of Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Americas Equity Research. He will partner with Sara Gubins, business services/education analyst, and Jim Kissane, computer services analyst, in providing comprehensive coverage of the broad business services investment universe to clients.

Mr. Bird joins from Steinberg Asset Management where he was a senior equity research analyst for two years. Previously, he worked at Smith Barney/Citigroup for ten years as an equity research analyst covering the publishing, information and marketing services sectors.
